PRIVACY POLICY

VARDT is an independent editorial project operated in a personal capacity in France, without a separate legal entity. This policy describes personal data used for the website, contribution proposals, correspondence and access to the private editorial workspace.

The contribution form collects your name, email address, current role or field, proposed title, topic, short pitch and explanation of why the subject matters. Students are asked for their university or institution; people selecting “Other” are asked to describe their role.

You may also provide an affiliation, relevant background and links to previous work or profiles. The form does not accept file uploads. Required and optional fields are identified on the form.

We use this information to review proposals, assess their editorial relevance and respond using the email address provided. Submissions are stored in Supabase with a submission identifier, dates and a review status. Access to proposal records in the editorial workspace is restricted to administrators.

Submitting a proposal does not create an account, publish your proposal or send an automatic email. Publication and any subsequent editorial exchanges are separate steps.

If you email VARDT, the exchange includes your email address, the contents of your message and any information you choose to share. These details are used to handle your enquiry and related correspondence.

Please provide only information relevant to your enquiry or proposal.

Public reading and contribution proposals do not require an account. Access to the private editorial workspace is granted individually.

For authorised users, Supabase handles authentication and session data. Editorial profiles include an account identifier, email address, display name, profile slug and role. These support access control, authorship and the editorial workflow.

Author information associated with a published article may appear publicly. Private proposal records are not published through the proposal form.

Vercel provides hosting and deployment and handles website requests, including requests that submit proposals. Supabase provides the database, authentication and backend services, including storage of proposals and editorial account data.

Hostinger provides domain registration and email services, including the delivery and storage of email correspondence. Contribution proposals are stored in Supabase; the form does not automatically forward them by email.

These technical providers may process data necessary to deliver, operate and secure their services. Website requests may involve technical information such as an IP address, browser information, requested URL and request time.

The website uses Supabase session cookies for authorised editorial users. An existing editorial session may also be checked on public pages to show the editorial workspace link.

The contribution form does not require a sign-in session. It uses a temporary submission identifier to avoid duplicate submissions on retry and a hidden field to help reject automated spam.

The website application does not include advertising pixels or audience analytics scripts. Authentication cookies support editorial access rather than advertising.

Proposals are stored for editorial review and follow-up. The editorial workspace allows an administrator to delete an individual proposal; changing its review status does not itself delete it.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have rights to access and correct your personal data. You may also request deletion or restriction, object to processing, and request a portable copy of certain data, subject to the conditions and exceptions applicable to each right.

Where processing relies on consent, applicable law may allow you to withdraw it. Sending a proposal is not treated as blanket consent to unrelated uses of your information.

To make a request, write to hello@vardt.com and describe the information or exchange concerned. You may also lodge a complaint with CNIL, the French data protection authority.

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the website and its data handling. The date above identifies the latest revision of this text.
